A welterweight bout between John Hathaway (15-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) and unbeaten Pascal Krauss (10-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) is the latest addition to the UFC on FOX 3 card.
UFC officials today announced the fight.
UFC on FOX 3 takes place May 5 at IZOD Center in East Rutherford, N.J. The main card, including a Jim Miller vs. Nate Diaz headliner, airs on FOX, and prelims are expected to air on FUEL TV.
It’s not clear where Hathaway vs. Krauss will be situated on the card.
The fight is the UFC’s second attempt at booking the fight after a UFC 138 meeting in November was scrapped when both fighters ultimately suffered injuries.
Hathaway rebounded from his first career loss, which came via unanimous decision to Mike Pyle at UFC 120, with a split-decision victory over Kris McCray. The McCray win came nearly a year ago at UFC Fight Night 24, so Hathway will go nearly 14 months between fights.
Before the Pyle loss, Hathaway, who fights out of England, posted a 14-0 record that included UFC victories over Thomas Egan, Rick Story, Paul Taylor and Diego Sanchez.
He now meets German fighter Krauss, who went 10-0 on his country’s regional circuit before making an octagon debut at UFC 122 in November 2010. There, he earned a unanimous-decision victory over Mark Scanlon. It was his first time going to a decision; his first nine fights ended in stoppage victories (five in the first round).
Like Hathaway, Kraus has been dealing with injuries, and he’ll now have a 19-month layoff between fights.
